Default Fairing Speakers

I'm sure this has been beat to death but, I just got a 2015 SGS and want to replace the fairing speakers and possible add an amp. What do you guys recommend?

Although I'm not real familiar with the new audio system, I'm sure aftermarket spkrs and an amp will make it much better.

I suspect the folks in the audion section have had a lot to say about this. I respectfully suggest looking there.

I have the J&M 7.25

not at all an improvement ... a waste of money.

Biketronics 7.1 kit is a pretty awesome deal. Tiny amp with lots of power

Hey Mike, try adding the amp as well. I went with J&M on the Road Glide and made all the difference in the world. With the exhaust I had it was necessary to hear anything other than noise at highway speed.

+1 on reading the audio section, lot of good advise there.

If your going to run a 2 speaker set up, you should probably go with a 2 ohm speaker and a PBR 300x2.

**EDIT**
disregard my previous comment. Not sure why I though you were talking about a Roadie.

BT has a 7.1" speaker kit that replaces the entire pod in these fairings. Any good quality speaker is going to need more airflow than can be achieved with that pod in there.

If you want to keep the pods, then take a look at the Kappa 62.11i speakers. You can mount them 1 of 2 ways. Either take the pod apart and mount them from the inside and use your stock grills or mount them on the outside of the pods and change the stock grills to the boom audio grills to give you more depth.

As for amp, sky's the limit here. If I were you, I'd simply replace the speakers first and go from there if you think you need more.

Yup, BT 7.1 with their 2180 amp for a 2 speaker system is probably the best plug and play out there for the new bikes right now.

No.

The J&M stuff didn't live up to their advertisements/statements

in particular the efficiency of the speakers ( dB's per watt) is poor.
J&M doesn;t publish specs for this, but claim high efficiency- they are not.

the tonality is also unbalanced skretchy highs from cheap tweeters
