Just completed stage I on my 2015, (V&H Power Duals/ Monster 5 1/2 ovals/ Screamn' Eagle AC) with PCV. Needless to say, I downloaded and installed required map from PC. Sound & butt dyno is good!
Q. Would the cencus be, now dyno and tune or leave alone?? Thanks in advance. Muddy
You should be good to go unless you just feel like dropping another 3-5 hundred on it for really no reason. A simple "Stage1" isn't that major of an engine modification and between the PCV and the stock ECM everything should be able to recalibrate itself for the upgrade.
imo. dropping 5 hundred for a dyno tune to gain 10 hp is crazy.
Sounds as if you have never had a dyno tune! It is not so much about gaining every inch of power but providing the best and smoothest riding bike. I have two modified bikes, one with a simple bolt-on 'tuner' and the other with a proper dyno tune. I'm happy with both of them, but the performance of the dyno-tuned one is remarkable! We must each of decide if the expense is worthwhile, but a well tuned bike is fabulous.

grbrown: Thanks for the info as well as the rest of the replies. I've moved off a 08 CVORK....and I think I missed the boat with that 110 due to not at least moving to a Stage I there. ;( The reason for the move.... I was sick and tired of that much chrome! ;( 43K on that scooter...and a lot of cleaning & polishing.
Ok, just took the SG for it's first really good short ride. The pull is much much better! Sound is perfect! With the canned map.... I'm getting some popping on decel. Tomorrow, I'll have it dyno'ed so as to clear up the pop...and hopefully bring her to perfection in which I've been told by a somewhat local tuner will happen! I'll report the results. Thanks grbrown!! I'm in total agreeing. Local long time tuner has a great history!! $250 bucks. Muddy
Dyno tune is not only about gaining power and torque. It's about optimizing the quality of your ride as well as optimizing performance. You're going to drop 20+K on a new bike, another 1-2K on your stage 1 upgrade and rely on a canned MAP so you don't have to spend another 3-400? I don't get it. Here's my take on canned MAPs, they are created for a bike that might have similar mods as yours, but where was the MAP created compared to where you live? What fuel was used to tune the canned MAP? What was the octane? what was the ethanol level? Fuel is not common across the country. If you live in New York would you really want to run a canned MAP that was created in Nevada? Spend the money and get it tuned.
