If Harley introduces anew FLH design with an air cooled v-twin then you know they're not planning on going to a water cooled engine across the board for quite a long time. Those redesigns require long term committments. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a V-Rod Tourer. That is supposed to be one bullet proof motor.
What models are rumored to be discontinured?? Haven't heard that one.
I am rather sure a touring vrod is on the way.I think they will continue to develop new models on this platform. However, I dont think the air cooled engine is going away any time soon. I think if anything they will make oil coolers standard on all model. The air cooled 45 vtwin is heart and soul of this company. It is what makes a bike a Harley. They will never stray to far away. Another thing...HD had its best year in company history last year...you dont mess with sucess.
Must look and sound like a current air cooled motor. Add fins on the jugs of a V-Rod would help with looks. How about, just adding water jackets to the current style jugs. That would have to make the jugs 1/2 in bigger. the fins would help with putting on a smaller rad. keep the same v-twin angle and push rods would keep the sound.....I think they spent to much money (R&D) to go future, than to improve with the cooling (EPA) and sound issue. According to their TV special the y put the V-Rod in a chanmber to keep or get the Harley sound. They need a beter sound chamber!
Get it soon, CARB '08 and EPA '10 are around the corner. You don't think Harley spent all that dough on the VRSC if they didn't have to, do 'ya? Putting the shark nose on a tried and true package first was the smartest business move they could make. If the law makes 'em combine the 2, we're already prepared. By the negativity surrounding the upcoming Victory bagger, we would have been totally freaked out.
The VROD motor is a 60 degree v-twin instead of a 45. Maybe they can extend the lowers to the side covers and put chrome decals of your favorite big twin on them.
Yeah i've seen that magazine too!Let me tell you, that road rod was effen sweettt!!Man i'll be placing my order as soon as they come out!!!
