Default Programming Mileage on Gauges

Okay guys.....help me out here. I just ran up on a helluva deal. I was able to do an even swap for my silver 2013 FLHX gauges with 13521 miles on it for a set of black gauges with red leds and custom face plates that have 18 miles on the speedo. I want to update these new to me gauges with my actual mileage. Is there a way to do this? I have several different answers like when I plug them in the ECM will update the mileage or there is no way to do this or I can get it done at the stealership?

Can anyone give me some help here?

Thanks in advance

I've looked into this bit as I'm in Canada and my bike came out of the US. I'd like to change out the speedo to read km's (with the correct mileage). I could be wrong, but I believe the dealer can't do it. If I order/buy a new speedo, they need your old/current speedo and VIN #...send to the MoCo and the new one then is programmed with your current mileage and tied to your VIN #.

Dealers can do it. I've seen it done when a guy I ride with swapped to all digital gauges on his street glide.

No they can't. This is an old subject. It's the MoCo's way of keeping dealers honest. If a dealer had the ability to roll back the odometer, you'd hear about a lot of shady dealers getting busted for tampering.

No they can't..... have that guy take the bike back to the dealer and see if they can change the odometer again. they will tell him no, it can't be done more than once.

Digital gauges can be programmed.... ONCE. Same with the Road King custom gauge like this one http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...10-70900072--1 ..... ONCE.

Once they are programmed, it's forever.

I replaced my silver face gauges with black, so I went through these same questions.

I was looking for a speed/tach combo for my wife's RK. I didn't want to pay the outrageous price for the new one so I was looking for take offs. Before I bought one, I talked to 4 dealers in the DFW area as well as MoCo. The answer I got:

Once the gauge is married to a bike, it can not be swapped to another bike. No one can reprogram it. I can't send it to them or anything.

Nope ... No you haven't ... You might have seen someone who said they know a guy who works at the local 7/11 who dates a chick whose uncle has a brother in law that delivers the Coca Cola to the local prison who has seen it done, but he really hasn't ... Nope!

Correct that it can't be reprogrammed however I believe it can be swapped...it will just have the wrong odometer reading. I have read that if you are doing a used gauge swap that you need to buy gauges with more milage than your bike currently has then let the bike catch up to match the the new (used) gauge odometer reading. I was considering this for this project however I ended up just buying a new KPH/MPH speedo and having it set just above my bike's odometer reading.
