Will changing the baffles or wrapping with fiberglass require another download?
I don't think so, Lou, but maybe someone with more experience can give some feedback. If anything I would think it might run slightly richer, but not by much.

i don't want quiet i just dont want a ticket.

All I'm seeing is perforated metal inside perforated metal. If you go to the Bub website and check out the FAQ's, they recommend wrapping them with fiberglass to really quiet them down. Again, the one I read from the Bub rep said he thought they sounded best wrapped. Guess that's something I need to learn how to do!

Maybe that's the secret to not waking up the neighbors.

I have the quiet baffels in mine and often ride with a friend who has the standard ones. The difference is very noticable. I would try them without the fiberglass at first.

Im also interested in how these work for you. I think mine are a bit loud and was thinking about wrapping them. You can pick up fiberglass wrap at any place that sells dirtbike stuff.

Another question. The fiberglass wrap, is it the 2" wide tape I see that can be used to wrap the exterior of an exhaust header, or is it the sheet of fiberglass material normally used as packing? I can probably find something today at an auto parts store.

I repaced my stock baffles for the quite ones after doing a 98" build as the stock Rinehearts got close to being obnoxious. I noticed a big difference in sound and torque. They are now quiter that before the build w/ stock baffles. Mine are the earlier version mufflers acouring to Eastern Performance were I bought them, They had been in for 20K miles. Had to grab the ends with a vice grip and get them wiggling side to side and they came out w/o to much effort.

The packing you want is similar to the insulation you put in your attic only a bit more robust. It is actually designed for exhaust applications. I have not tried it on a street bike, but I know it makes a big difference in a 2 stroke silencer. I would imagine that it would really quiet down the Rineharts. I would try the quiet baffles first, because the packing will disintegrate over time. I guess what I mean is if the baffles suit you, the sound will not change much over time where the baffle packing will have to be redone occasionally.

So, will something like this work to wrap the baffles with? Found it in the McMaster-Carr catalog. 1/8" x 3" x 25 feet is $44.64. Anyone have another source for this type of material that might be cheaper?

I took some fiberglass out of a set of Vance & Hines on my last bikes slipons. that is what i was thinking of using.
that stuff was about 1/2 in thick and about 12" wide and long enough to go around the baffle.
and as some one else said i am sure you could get it at the local dirt bike store.
