Default Remap?

OK........I'm with Retired Ted on this one. I want to go back to stockers and ditch my Kerker slipons. I would rather hear my radio and talk to my wife instead of suffer hearling loss or worse yet - wear earplugs.

My question is: I have PC and stage one breather. If I put the stock pipes on can I do without a remap? Or will I be too rich.

I did a search, but cound not find an answer on the previous posts.

You should be fine. In the HD catalog the Stage 1 is just the SE Aircleaner and the Re-map. The way I read it, the Aircleaner and Re-map go together, but do not require a pipe change.

Bill

When you say you have a PC and stage one breather... Not sure what is meant by PC but if it's not a remap and is a self adjustable fuel unit you could probable tweak it back a little but not all the way if you keep the stage one AC. If PC is a dealer remap I guess you could leave and see how she is.....it's not too much trouble changing slip-ons for a while to find out. I also have the Kerker slip-ons on a 05 RKC and found the need to richen the fuel to combat decel popping and I had a stock AC at the time. I'm running a Big Sucker and Duals now w/the Kerkers and had to modify the Kerkers to quiet them down, I agree with you that they are a little bit too loud w/the straight through design.

You will find that with stock pipes and leaving the stage one AC, the AC adds a noticable amount of noise too. I was surprized how loud it was when I put my stock mufflers back on while I was working on my Kerkers for a couple of days. You might consider doing the remap if that is what you have and putting the stock AC back on and go for more quiet.

Good Luck,
Ron

Mike, I'm assuming you're talking about a Power Commander. If you have a Harley StageI remap also, you can remap only the Power Commander with the appropriate map from Dynajet. They have a complete listing on their website of the maps.

Another one joins the crowd. My 05 Road Glide has the Stage one with SE II's slip-ons. I plan on going back to quiet rides, conversation with my wife, and hearing the radio by putting my stock pipes back on. I talked to mechanics at an independent Harley shop and was told the Stage One does not affect the mufflers. Ya, I'm told, with a PC you might be able to tweak it a little, but the Harley download (remap) should work just fine with Stage One and stock pipes. I'll know for sure after this weekend.

I would say it depends on how rich you have the PC mapped now. You should be able to go back to the stockers with a PC map that isn't overly rich without any changes, however you can also lean the PC out if it is rich. Check out your MPG and plugs if they get any soot from a rich condition other than the base ring which is always sooted up.

I also have the Power Comander in my Road King - I plan to remove it. The bike acts just fine after re-installing the stock mufflers, however, I haven't looked at the plugs or checked the mileage yet. I'll report back after removing the PC (Power Commander). Might not happen until tomorrow - wife keeping me busy[:@].

Here is the deal. If you loaded the appropriate map for your Kerker Slip On's and Stage I breather, then you can just unplug the power commander after you put the stock mufflers back on. I assume that your stock ECM is also not loaded with another map as that would not work well with the PC. Most people with the muffler and breather change just load a map that is preset for those items. With just a breather upgrade, you will not need a remap and you should be good with just unplugging the PC and hooking it all back up stock. If you need a new map for your stage I upgrade only, and it's not in the library of the PC, then email the folks at Dynojet and they will email you one. Good luck and hope you get what your wanting.

Scott

I think you should rethink that statement.

With just a muffler change, no need for a remap other than stock, but with a breather change you do need a remap (upgrade) other than the stock map, unless we are both thinking in opposite directions here because of the PC
