I installed the kit on a 09. I can't be of help to you tho. I installed forward controls and taller bars at the same time. So can't give you an opinion with stock parts. I am 5'10" and with the shortest windshield, I am just looking over it. My feet are firmly planted on the ground and my legs are bent quite a bit. If that makes sense.

That's some funny **** how people that have never had it on their bike or maybe never even set on one can claim to be experts on the drop seat. I'm 5'7' with short legs and I'm telling ya I can flat foot it,I can see over a 6.5 in windvest windshield and have no problems reaching the foot controls. What this kit does in my opinion is set you in the bike like you would be on a soft tail bike. I got a good deal on mine but they are a little pricey if you have to buy new. One other thing is they are not that hard to install.

I have the standard kit on a 2012 as seen in pic. I love mine. It does sit WAY BACK from stock and even with my 35" sleeves I still bought bars with more pull back (not in pic). I'm 6" just like the low feel. I would recommend the narrow kit for you bc it is much narrower in the seat which makes it lots easier to reach the ground. I sit really low and back in the seat (which I love) but still don't feel like it's on the ground when I stop bc of the leg placement. Hope that helps.

Funny I get criticized, and those that have them cannot even agree. Some say basically what I said, others contradict it.

I will not spend $2000-$2500 on a maybe. A $50 set of boot soles is justifiable.

Personally, I think they look silly, but if FBI could have convinced me it would have worked for my 5'2" and short-legged wife, I would have bought one....

They could not. I did not.

There were too many "maybe"s when I called.

Upon re-reading the OP, I was in the wrong. I do not own one....

But those of you that own one on something other than a '14 were as far off base as I was.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but Im going the opposite way. Im 6'5 and will be coming from the Softail side and cant stand how touring bikes "Feel". Meaning, you sit on TOP of a touring bike and you sit in a softail. So, thats why Im going to install a 3'' drop seat in my '15 RG, so it drops me "IN" the bike, like a softail.

I have long arms and will enjoy the stretch also. Maybe even extend my damn legs too.

Beautiful bike.. I'm going to seriously look into it at 5'2 I got lower shocks in rear, but ride over bumps is rough and not flat footed without shoes with height.

I didn't even know I had a "lowering kit" as the dealer called it on my bike. Purchased my 2014 a few months ago and I asked local dealer to look up VIN to see what maintenance was done on the bike. (I was told ALL was done thru same dealer) All he could find was the lowering kit. The seat does say "low" on the bottom of it. I don'y know what else a "kit" comes with and he was busy so I didn't ask. I'm 6' and like the feel of the low seat but, I thought it was normal. It had been 10 years since sitting on a Harley

H-D sells a front end lowering kit that drops the front end an inch. It's usually done in conjunction with a lowering of the rear suspension.
All recent oem touring seats have low stamped in the seat base.
First determine if you have 12" or shorter shocks. Street Glides and some of the special models have oem 12" shocks measured center of eye to eye. Your shocks might have been changed. If you have 12" or shorter shocks going to a 13" shock will add some height back but then be slightly out to alignment to the lowered front. For best results you would be better to return the front forks to eom height.
If you ride solo a cop seat setup will put you a couple inches higher.
