Is North Ft hood still open range? Cows used to huddle in the middle of the road on the way up to Gatesville. That was an eye opener the first time.

Unless you're in East Texas, next to Lowsyanna! GF lives near Longview, I visit about once a month. Gets sticky but great roads! +1 on Leaky and the 3 sisters! 1st time through, heed the speed limits!

Take a quick ride down to Fredricksburg, Luchenbach and get some time in Austin as 6th street still has a decent music scene. Leakey is awesome. Terlingua and that area has some good riding too and you feel like you are in another world when you are out there. Welcome to Texas! And I rode bike bike into work tonight at a pleasant 65 degrees...

thanks for your service.....i was at hood a long, long, time ago. i loved it. i used to work out on west fort but the det was up on motor pool row. I lived south, in georgetown by the san gabriel river for awhile. tons of stuff to do even then. Lake travis used to be a fun place and Austin was great for the night life. i used to run a dirt bike on north fort tank trails and fields and roads...what a hoot. I'm from the north east and had just rotated from 4 years in the Ramstein area. it was in the late spring and i don't think i had ever seen it so humid. have a blast and ride safe.
