Unhappy FLHRC Passing Lamps Toggle Switch

I just bought a mini-wiring loom from HD to allow the passing lights to stay on with either dipped or full beam headlamp. The instructions say to remove the hex nut securing the aux lamp toggle switch BUT mine is not a hex nut. It appears to be just a smooth disc nut and I cannot see a way to remove it without butchering the surrounding chrome. I guess there has to be any easy way but would someone kindly tell me how to do it?

The hex is on the back side of the toggle...

My toggle switch quit toggling so I just spliced the wires together and the running lights stay on no matter what.

Yep... a perennial problem with most toggle switches. As TheMouth says, ya gotta get around the back of the switch and loosen the hex nut from there. Might take a real thin wrench. and those aren't easy to find! You might be able to go to a bicycle shop and get a wrench made by Park Tools that's basically stamped from sheet steel to work for you, or maybe a special wrench designed for valve adjustment would work...but you'll play hob trying to find one. Might be that Snap-On would carry it, or you might be able to laboriously alter one of your old open end wrenches, but...there might be enough room back there for a regular wrench...won't know until you get there.

Xlnt! I had a similar deal on my Heritage many moons ago, couldn't remember just how much room was back there. I have run into short stem toggle switches before...
