I was happy with 8 inch LRS recurve after trying a 6 and 7 inch.
Beary
Don't know about OP, but after seeing the 50% promo code, I went to Longride Shields and ordered an 8" recurve. 50 buck plus shipping, figured it's worth trying.
I agree with all the above - factory shield is useless. I'm a hair over 6' - I use the HD 7" Windsplitter here: http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...ter-windshield on my '13 SG. I get some wind hitting the top of the helmet, could probably use an 8".
The 7" LRS is actually going to be taller than the 7" windsplitter I have a 8" LRS I'm swapping out for a 7" LRS because riding solo I can see over the top of the 8" just fine but riding double any kind of a incline and the top edge hits my line of sight. I don't like that at night
Thanks for the responses guys. I am 6' tall, and when I measured the factory shield it's actually 5" tall in center height. I need another 3" height to meet the tip of my nose. That being said, you guys with 7" shields think I'll benefit from only going 2" higher? or safer with an 8"? I an looking at an LRS Ultra dark tint 8" shield presently. Unfortunately, I have no way to try one out before buying one, and I don't want to spend money needlessly if I don't have too. Hoping to get it right the first time around....

Don't forget we are talking about recurve windshields vs a flat - there's 2-3" difference in the way they ahandle the wind.
I had a 7" splitter on my 09. I'm 6'2". Wind would hit the top of my forehead. No issues with glasses. Helmet didn't like it but I rarely wear one. I ordered a 7" LRS for my 14 Ultra. Hoping it will work, second guessing about going with an 8 but I can see just over the top so I think it will work. Winter here so I won't be able to test for a few months.
My 2015 SGS has the factory 4" fairing shield with the air flow divert through the fairing to assist in head buffeting. At 60 mph plus, I am still getting a lot of wind in the face. Wondering if replacing the shield with a 6" or 8" will make much of a difference. Anything larger probably won't look right. Any thoughts or suggestions? Have any of you changed out the fairing shield or noticed any improvements by doing so? or is it not worth the expense?
I put the 8" Freedom Shield on my 15' SGS. I'm 6'5" and it work perfect for me. I can actually hear the radio going down the road again lol.

Ok,you guys convinced me. Just ordered a medium tint 6" LRS windshield w/re-curve for our 2011 Street Glide. It currently has a tinted 9.5" KW shield on it now but the top of it is right in the middle of my line of sight. Very annoying so it will be for sale, soon.
Decided on the 2014 Ultra re-curve LRS 7" Dark tinted fairing shield. Think it will work out fine for me with my height. (6') Even got 1/2 off the price as a Christmas promo. Can't beat that deal. Glad I waited a few extra days before deciding. Can always change back to the factory shield when it gets hot here in the Florida summer months.
