glad to hear you will be ok.
But in a day or two you are really going to be sore and stiff!
But you got the good meds!
And yes push for a new bike, and then if you can afford it buy it back from the insurance company if they will let you.
Got a lot of good useable stuff on it.
Fukin' lucky man.
You may not feel too lucky, but, you're lucky.
Of coarse we all dread that very thing, I try to watch for it, but, you just never know, do Ya?
Out of curiosity, did you have your passing lights on?
Hang in there Brother, hope you heal fast and get a new Ultra.
I am thinking about adding the fog lights to my Ultra just for more notice during daylight. I run my headlight and passing lights ALL of the time now. I think the more lights the better for being noticed. It's all about being noticed.
Funny how things happen - We finally warmed up here for some riding yesterday and I took a friend's daughter for a spin. Towards the end of the ride she remarked how much she enjoyed the ride and that she'd like to see if her husband-to-be wanted to get a bike. I told her that the best order to follow would be #1) Take an MSF or other basics class #2) Get his license before he goes shopping. I told her that the class is essential for teaching "survival" skills, like thinking that all cages are out to get you, etc.
Not 1 minute later, we're driving in front of some houses on a narrow road (35 zone), I see the minivan pulling down the driveway, I slow down in anticipation that he's not going to see me. Sure enough, he pulls out right in front of my now almost stopped ride (abruptly stopped that is) with a shocked expression. Had I not anticipated that, we'd have had a collision at 35mph and I imagine that the two of us would have ended up in the hospital (and my King in bad shape). And we had helmets, heavy leathers, etc. on.
She has new respect for the reality of riding informed, aware and protected.
Any way - be safe out there. They REALLY ARE out to get us.
