I have a 2012 ultra classic, I just ordered the relocation kit # hd53702-04a, it sayes that you have to delete the rear fender tip light and it comes with a plate to cover the whole, does anyone know why i can not use the fender tip light with the kit?

I had to do the same thing on my '03 RK. The reason being is the fender tip light sticks further out from the fender than the license plate holder will accommodate.

It is very easy to remove the light. Unplug it and unscrew it and you are good to go.

 

I was hoping i could keep the light, I like the way it looks with it

 

That kit is not for your bike. That kit is for 08 and earlier.

I just put this setup on my buddy's '09 Ultra Classic. Total cost was $238 and works with the fender plate tip. Looks awesome on the bike. Everything is Kuryakyn except the lens was from Drag Specialties.

 

I saw that listed also, i talked to the guy at the part counter and he said it will work, i guess i will call him back tomorrow to comfirm.

It sure wont be the first time i got the wrong part from them

Do you know of another part # that will work?

 

alot of us swap to a road king signal bar and plate mount- it has integral led plate lighting.

2 bolts and a simple splice into the fender tip power for the plate light.

try to buy a take off from a road king rider--- get his red lens too

this cost about $75, which was a real deal
