Default 96' Classic LED lighting help, PLEASE

I recently purchased a Custom Dynamics LED conversion for my 96" Electra Glide Classic. Brake, both front and rear turn signals, and load equalizer. According to the instructions provided, the load equalizer will not allow the hazard lights to function, gets too hot. I really want the four ways as I do rides with The Patriot Guard and need these for escorts. Anyone installed these on an older HD? I could really use some help, thinking about returning the entire package and starting somewhere else.

Sorry can't be of much help, But I have the dynamic ringz up front, R/S/T signals and Gen 3 Tri-bar in rear. With Triple play and load eq. My 4 way Flashers work. I've not used em other than to test. I don't recall anything in the install instructions saying they wouldn't work. IDK maybe it's a Rushmore thing with the Can-bus wiring. Call CD and ask for tech support and go from there.

Call CD before you return them. Ask for Dennis. He has been very helpful and easy to talk to. I installed the same system on my 09. Overheating of equalizer was not an issue and one of the reasons I bought the system. I did have a problem with RF noise in the equalizer but CD is taking care of this.

Thanks, and I did call CD, the Tech stated that the bikes older than 00" had to use these load equalizers as the voltage was so low the system would think a bilb was burned out. They have no solution to the hazard lights. It states on the web and instructions that using the four ways will cause the load equalizer to get hot.

Hmmm, That's odd. I've had mine in for a couple years now and just added the tri-bar with the Triple-Play this past spring. I'll look for the instructions that came with the Stabilizer. But AFAIK, The 13's and older needed it or you'd get the fast flash with the bike thinking a bulb was out. That was IF you installed the rear R/S/T, Along with the front signals. (Front only didn't)The Rushmore's don't. Now I have to go and turn my flashers on and see for myself if/how hot it gets. I'll update my test results later as I was going to ride to my Dr. Appointment in a little while.

OK still had a Lil time before I go. Couple things I just learned. My Flasher's will not turn on/off unless ignition is on,Not on Accessory. But once flashing can turn switch to Acc.Then back to Ign to turn off.
Left em flashing for about 15 min. Stabilizer not hot,Not even warm yet. So I don't know WTH to do, If I need to use em on the side of the road for an emergency I will. As for riding with em on for a long time (Parade) Sorry I'm still not much help. Maybe double up two of em, Just a thought.

Not wishing to upset the apple-cart here but; are you sure you got the right equalizer and LED's for your bike? I have used mine for going on 3 years with no issues with the equalizer other than the RF Noise, which is about to be fixed. I just went to the sight and see no reference to overheating of equalizer in 4 way flasher.

Pretty sure this it the equalizer you should be using;

He can definitely set you in the direction you want to go.

I am not affiliated in any way with CD however, I have dealt with them in the past and find their CS to be superb.

You can also try your flashers with no equalizers. If they don't blink too fast you can use them like that. Some guys have been able to use them this way.

Pretty sure he means '96 as in 1996 not 96" as in 96 inch.

Thanks for the input guys, I did talk with Dennis at Custom Dynamics this afternoon, as my bike is a 1996, these used a flasher relay and hence the need for the load equalizer. When the four ways are on, it will cause the equalizer to overheat after several minutes. Problem will be solved when I get a new, revamped load equalizer. Dennis told me these are slated to come out in approximately four, five weeks and there are folks that will be getting them, other problems include the RF noise. So we'll leave'em alone now now, just not use them til I get the new equalizer. Thanks toall that responded!

I had a similar load equalizer on my old 1996 Evo Road King (Not custom dynamics).. they also warned not to use the 4 way flashers for an extended period because of the heat. However, I mounted mine directly to the frame to get the best possible cooling and never had an issue.
