Default Leaking Rear Shock???

Got my 07 Ultra in Dec 06. 1400 miles on the machine at this time. Went out to the barn this morning and saw a small oil puddle under the left rear saddle bag - Shock leaking Oil - WTF?
Is there something I can look for to find a "know problem" with the stock shocks that have a "known fix" before taking it back to the dealer for warrenty work?

Have you put any air in the shock?

Bigredone,

Have not put any air in the shocks myself - I had the one and only service (1000 mile) the dealer is going to do - done a couple of weeks ago - they might have, but I did not notice the leak until yesterday.

Thought you may have blown a seal or something. I'd take it back and have them replace the shock.

Mine did the same thing about 18K miles. Dealer replaced without question.

They will fix it with no question.

You do however need to check the air in the shocks every 5 days or so. They are known to leak air.

I changed mine on my 07 Ultra to Progressive 440's. WOW what a change.

The shocks don't normally leak any air - it's the fittings that leak - make sure the black high pressure tubing is all seated into their respective fittings as far as possible or they will leak. Your shock that's leaking oil is unusual but easily replaced and it would definitely be a warranty item imho.
