1. Should I be concerned about all the posts regarding the noise this makes in 5th gear? Has this been addressed in the later model '07's or are you guys still having the issue?
2. What do I need to do as far as mods immediatley (money permitting) or is this bike pretty good to go stock?
IF you get an '07, you are going to be GRINNING so freakin big you won't have time to worry about anything. A stage I addition is advisable if you ask me but certainly not mandatory.
1. no
2. it's good to go just like it is, not very loud, but good to go, it'sa great bike.you might put some slip-ons on it to make it sound better, and you might like it just like it is.
1.No
2.As mentioned before Stage 1 recommeded but not mandatory
I got my 07 about a week before Christmas 6200 miles later still grinning ear to ear
Enjoy the Ride!!!
I'm going to suggest you do it yourself, but if you don't feel like it then look to spend anywhere from $1200-1800 bucks for the dealer to do it.
A stage I setup is all personal preference on the components YOU select in doing it.
slip-ons using your stock headers vs. true duals and slipons, fuel management systems, and air cleaner selection are something you will have to decide.
Shop hard and be diligent and you will find good deals for quality parts. The guys here change parts more than underwear so keep your eyes peeled and get the word out on your intentions, these guys in here are fantastic and will watch out for you.
Question #1.The MoCo hasnt done anything about the noise besides training their people to tell you its normal. After 8 months of fighting them and having my bike tested by them,it still makes thenoise.Their bandaide fixes havent worked for all bikes, heavier fluids dampen but dont address the cause-its still there. This complaint has kept many thinking of buying from doing so.I wish I wouldve known more before buying mine.Wanna bet the 08s dont have this?
