I personally think apes look pretty cool on the right bike. I have a 2015 roadglide and apes are in the future for this bike. In 2011 myself and a buddy made a trip from here in Jacksonville, Florida to sturgis SD, by the time we were home we had done 5000 miles in 2 weeks. The bike I had at that time had 16" apes on it. I was comfortable the whole time. As far as your hands falling asleep the key is not to go to high, shoulder height is a good height, thats what mine were. I know here in florida that is also the legal limit. If you ever get that soreness between the shoulderblades when you ride, apes will take care of that. They actually are comfortable and you dont lose any control.

I'm on my second bike since I started riding again a few years back. I have a 05 Electra Glide and had 12" Apes put on it........LOVE it on all levels. my right hand had a tendency to get fuzzy on me and that does not happen. I would say my hands are 1 or 2 inches below my shoulders. my only regret is the 1000 miles I put on before I had them installed.

Personally I don't think 10" qualifies as apes. 14" or more. I used to have 14's on previous bikes, thought I'd try 12.5s for my road glide and I regret it. I'm going to swap the out this spring.

So I have 12.5s now, I really consider them to just be 'taller bars'
