Need to keep downward pressure, with a pry bar, when tightening the P clamp on the crossover.

Also, NEW gaskets, HD stock ones are fine.

110-120 IN. lbs is spec on the flange bolts, basically all you care to put out with a small 1/4 drive ratchet.

I've installed the front RUSH TD probably 12 times, I've got a good grip on it.

well after some troubleshooting Katfish decided to send me another set of pipes...

putting tension on the exhaust sounds like recipe for a cracked pipe after a couple of hundred hot/cold cycles - I asked some friends at work that have Harleys too and they all said they didn't have to put any pressure on their pipes to get them to fit, but nobody had Rush pipes.

The downtime sucks, but at least I got to see some great product support and customer service...I still have to get slip-ons so that's definitely in Rush's favor.

How did you finally make out with your Rush pipes? I am looking at them for a new ride and am curious what your final impression is. Or anybody's feedback would be appreciated.

Just a quick update-

I ended up sending the pipes back to Rush and they replaced the front pipe with a newer design which has a bracket just like the rear pipe that attaches to that mount point behind the primary like the stock exhaust does. This looks like it will be A LOT easier to line up. I haven't had a chance to install it yet but will hopefully have time this weekend.

It's taken a while because I've been very busy with work and work-related travel so I've been a little slow in doing all the troubleshooting they asked me to do, and then packing up the pipes and shipping them back.

Everyone at Rush has been very helpful, and I really want this exhaust to work out. There's probably a set of Rush slip-ons in my future if it does.

If I recall I had the same issue with mine rush td's when I installed them on my 13 street glide. I believe I used a ball-pen hammer and dented that spot a little and then I put a small shim there and removed once I had everything tighten. It was close then but never touched. Also they were never quite equal side to side at the swing arm.

I had a little bit of time before the weekend so I installed the flanges, O2 sensors, and plugs for the unused sensor bungs, and did a loose test-fitting of the parts.

Everything popped into place the first time and cleared everything. I'd say the new design with the extra bracket is a winner. Not only did it go in the first time and fit right, the new bracket acted as a shim for the bracket on the rear pipe (the front one fits under the rear one) and line THAT pipe better as well so I now have more clearance on the right swingarm.

No bending, no forcing, no denting. It just fit!

Can't wait to bolt everything back together and get riding again.

Always start with the simple things first....
This is solid advice. Also check with Rush to see which gaskets they recommend, tapered or flat. Just a note, the spiral tapered gaskets are easy to mess up when pushing them in. If they are not flat against the walls, there will be restriction and/or leaks.

Edit: Typed too fast and didn't read the whole thread. Glad to see you got it fixed.
