I may be on my 3rd set but I'm no where near "thousands" in the hole. Of my 7 sets 2 came on the bikes when I bought then 3 were bought used at ridiculously cheap prices from members on here and 2 were new all total I'm in about 600 bucks.. This time however I knew what I wanted and got them..i won't be buying anymore unless it's another deal I can't pass up.. I listen to clips on YouTube all the time..hell you can get a set of cfr knock offs for 173 from Eastern performance right now.. Throw in 100 for a stage 1 filter and 50 for xieds from the classifieds and your only out 323 for a simple stage 1 set up
Thank you and I like this idea. What is xieds? what is the stage 1 filter?
We all start somewhere Mr Roadking.. Dnt think I know alot.. I just know what I've dealt with.. I spend alot of time on here daily.. Xieds r a simple fuel enrichment device.. Plug and play at the o2 sensors and your done.. They accommodate a simple stage 1 with more fuel.. A stage 1 filter is just a filter that's breathes better.. Look up screaming eagle stage 1 air cleaner, Ness big sicker, fuel moto has a basic set up as well
Replacing the mufflers is a pretty easy job. Remove the saddlebags and you will see 2 1/2" bolts on each side holding up the mufflers. Loosen the clamp where the front of the muffler slides over the exhaust pipe on each side (9/16" nut). Remove the 1/2" bolts and slide the muffler back and off of the pipe. It may take a little "convincing" to remove them! Reinstall your new mufflers in the reverse order. Make sure to use new clamps.

Thank you and that sounds like something even I could do!
Gilbert_RK - my best advice - settle down with a computer and a cold beer or three and read, read, read posts on this forum. There is a TON of good information on here, maybe even too much sometimes. A lot of it is opinion and a lot is fact. I've been riding since the 70s but I just got my first Harley about 2 years ago, and I've had to learn a lot about the bikes in that time.
I'd search for info on Stage 1 upgrades, tuners, and full exhaust systems. Asking for opinions on what slip-ons sound best will get you 2,000,000 answers from 2,000,000 people...you gotta be able to hear them to know what sounds good to YOU. And if you think you're going to do more mods down the road, that will play into it as well. I had a pair of Rush slip-ons on my Street Glide with stock pipes and I liked the sound...but when I added my FM X-pipe, AC, and tuner, the sound changed to where I don't like it as well...I don't hate it, but I don't love it.
You just gotta get used to the fact that you're gonna spend a lot of money to make your bike yours. Watching the classifieds here can save you some $$, and having friends that ride can help, too. Just read, ask questions, and try and have a plan and you'll be fine.
we make both slip ons and full systems. Our slip ons start at $249 and we offer a standard baffle or a loud baffle. Our full true dual system starts at $699 and also comes with a loud baffle option. Check out some customer videos on YouTube of what other R system sounds like. You won't be disappointed.
This is a subject that is worth spending time over, rather than trying to solve it quickly, in here, but also on the road, meeting other riders. I have always wondered if removal of the catalyst alone from a stock system will achieve that extra sound that many look for, rather than changing mufflers, at least as a first step.
Gilbert Roadking... You should post a picture of your current exhaust system so we could help you determine your current setup. You may already have a nice set of aftermarket mufflers on the bike, and all you need is a set of headers to give you the results your looking for.
