Default Flag Protocol

The question I have is the protocol, if any, on running flags on the bike

I am planning to get saddlebag guards and plan to run two flags one by each saddle bag

One flag will be the American flag the other will be the Marine Corps flag

Does the American flag go on the right? Or does it matter

Thanks

Yes it matters. If you are running two flags on the back of the bike then the US flag needs to be on the right (your right as you face forward. throttle side)

The old protocol according to the U.S. Flag display etiquette, on a motorcar the the flag staff is clamped to the right front fender. I display my flag on the riders right on the tour pak or if you have rails for the saddlebags clamping on the rails would seem appropriate.

When I see the flag displayed on cars, bikes, and boats it seems almost everybody forgets the most basic flag etiquette.....

The flag should only be raised between sunrise and sunset. If you leave the flag raised during darkness... it must be illuminated.

How many people illuminate the flag on their car or bike....?

I personally would rather see fewer people display the flag, than to display it improperly...

I find I'm pretty much alone with in thinking though......

Had the opportunity to spend some time with the presidential limo and I was impressed to find out they have a small led light recessed into the fender to illuminate the American flag at night. And American flag is always on right side.

No other flag shall be larger or fly higher than Old Glory! When your bike is resting on its kickstand the flag on the right side will be higher than the one on the left.
