Looking at the thick spoke wheels today and there are some that have air leaking from the rim at some stage of the wheels life.
has any body put in the puncture sealer to combat this possible issue?
Mine had a heavy bonded inner seal so never experienced that. I wouldn't do it though. I carry a can on trips for emergency, but other than that I would never use it.

Are you saying that you currently have those wheels, or are thinking of getting some old chap? If they claim to be spoked, tubeless and air tight there's no such thing! Except on a BMW.....
BMW make tubeless spoked wheels for their GS 'off-road' bikes, however the spokes are set in the rim outside the tyre beads. There are also some custom wheels that claim to be tubeless, with the spokes inside the beads, but.........
Actually my 2012 UC came with tubeless spokes. When it came time for new tires, no one in my town could make the damn things seal. Ended up putting tubes in them. Replaced them with "real" tubeless cast wheels. They're for sale now.

Tire sealant really only works on holes in the rubber tire. The bead has to be sealed with tire goop. Kind of a messy job putting it on there and I couldn't rely on a shop to do it right. I had a problem with getting the bead to seal when I was mounting the car tire to my rim. Goop works for the most part, but in cold weather, i.e. below freezing, the goop doesn't hold to good and the air leaks at the bead.

On a Harley tubeless wire wheel you have to replace the inner rim liner anytime you remove and replace a tire.Thats what seals the spokes.
