There is a plastic piece that has to be epoxyed to the outer primary cover on the inside to sling the oil onto the compensator

The new comp uses a different style spring arrangement. That requires replacing the rotor on pre-2011 production machines and that adds about $250 to the parts expense. When you open the primary, the compensator is what the chain wraps around on the engine end. When you remove the comp, you can then see the rotor. Removing the rotor usually requires loosening the inner primary case so it can be moved a bit so the rotor can slide past it. That opens up the chance for a leak so most grind away a bit of primary case between 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions as you look at the curve on the front of the case. It isn't a terribly difficult job for someone with some mechanical experience but if don't even own a screw driver and a pair of pliers, this is not a job to start learning on. The above listed references should include all of the details.

I looked at the referenced posts but can't see the pictures. Does anyone have the pictures of where to grind? Does the SE comp kit I mentioned have the all the parts or do I need to get more parts? This is BS we have to spend all this money because of HD's bad design.

If I were you I would give Baker a call, they are going to release their comp any day. The SE comp is hardly better than the stock comp, Bakers comp will be better than any comp Harleymhas ever built.

I just purchased the kit from local dealer yesterday for my 2010 Ultra classic. The part number is 42200064A. It comes with the new rotor and the plastic piece. You'll also have to purchase the adhesive to hold it in place and a new primary gasket. The instructions that come with it are pretty good. Total cost with the adhesive and gasket was about $540. Planning on doing mine this weekend. There's two or three threads on here with good pics and instructions. Looks like a pretty straightforward job that can easily be done in an afternoon.

I'm doing the same job but it only cost 335.00 (without the adhesive or gasket) from Kutter HD online.
No tax, 20% off, and free shipping.
Worth mentioning if you can wait for it to come in. Good savings.

If you go with the new SE Comp for your '07 you'll also need the Installation Adhesive Kit P/N 11100088. You use to have to buy the Rotor Assembly too for the older bikes, but the websites says "Kit includes Rotor Assembly P/N 30041-08".

im waiting to see how the baker comp pans out personally.. hopefully in the next few months we should see some real world stuff on it. price is similar that it seems worth waiting for. If the bakers all its cracked up to be there gonna have a hard time keeping that thing in stock.
