I bought an 04 with 55k on the clock for $9000 in September, just in time for winter. I bought mine from a old classmate of my wife's. The book value was ~$10500 if I remember right. If it is what you want and you can get it for $9000 jump on it.
05 did have valve seal problems but that should have been repaired by now. I had an 05 that I traded in last year with 40,000 miles dealer had it for sale for $10,000 don't know if he got that or not.
Cam tensioners should be at least checked if there is no record of them being replaced. Shift shaft seal is another thing to check. That is all I ever did to mine other than normal maintenance.
Sold my '06 UC in Oct. 2013 for $12K, 25K miles on it and basically stock. Bought it new, never a problem other then the heated grips (optional). Great bike and as others have said $9K seems very fair...Good Luck!
All good points and things to check out. Biggest problem is that it's at a Honda, Yamaha dealership, and it's probably a trade-in so they'll have no history on it. I'll see what they say when I go look at it.
Looks like a good price. Those wheels could be ordered in 2005 as an option, so they could be original to the bike.
If a trade in and they have no background info, just beat them up more on the price. The less they know, the bigger risk you are taking and that should show in the purchase price. Without any records, the cam tensioners will need to be checked and likely replaced. Not a deterrent to buy the bike, just a reason to negotiate harder.
Checked out the bike Saturday. Definitely what you call a "15 footer". Up close, the bike was pretty ragged looking. Not taken care of at all. Dealer says he took it in on trade, and knows nothing about it, other than it seems to run OK. Everything works, but if the previous owner took care of maintenance like he took care of the cosmetics on the bike, I want no part of it. Guy I talked to was a typical metric bike salesman, he knew nothing about Harleys, and had no clue when I asked him about any cam chain tensioner replacement. He has no idea what I was talking about (where do they get these guys?) and wouldn't give me the name of the guy who traded it in. Also said "no" when I told him it probably needed some engine work, or at the very least checked, and would he take some money off for that. Asked about any kind of warranty, and he said the bike was sold "As is". After looking at the whole bike, I think the previous owner knew it was time for the cam chain work, and just traded it in. I'm gonna pass on this one.

Smart move. You also have to wonder why the previous owner traded it in to a metric dealer. Plenty of other bikes out there that have been taken care of. Keep checking the dealers, craigs, Cycle Trader, etc. You also might want to let the local Harley dealer know what you are looking for. If a trade comes in, they will call you. Good luck in your search.
Just picked up a 2005 standard. Nice looking bike, price does not seem out of line.. It's going to be -4 when I leave for work in morning.. If it's that cold by you offer a little less and see if they bite.. When it warms up outside the price will probably be firm.
