just looking for help on the right battery i need. changing my softail springer to a full bagger. ill have 6 6x9 speakers with a 2000 watt amp and a power capacitor. what are some good batterys to aid in that power
it depends, what size battery do you have and is it already the same size as the standard Electraglide? After starting the power is from your alternator or stator.
will the stock alternator handle that power. and yes i will be getting a battery from a electraglide. i did word my op wrong and meant alternator power lol. thanks for the help
determine the power consumption first- what power does you added stuff draw?
add up all the watts...(you know like 2 x 55 watts spot light = 110 watts) then you can use an online calculator using ohms law to determine the current draw in amperes.
roughly, each 100 watts ( at 12 volts) = 8.33 amps
the 2000 watts is the "output" of you amp ( sounds generous)- you want the consumption, not the output
for many applications, running an aux battery ( like in the saddlebag) will be all you need- this concept would be familair to anyone working in a car audio shop

I could be wrong here but your springer may have a 30 some Amp charging system and glides will have 45 amps or more to charge all the accessories. Best to add up total planned accessories as recommended above and be sure the charging system will carry it before you find your self push starting a dead battery...
even back in the "day" when the RF punch 45 was doing crazy power bridged at a 1 ohm load, and the rave was using a capacitor to fix what ails you, it wasn't difficult to explain with visual aids on my test bench how ineffective capacitors really were and even more-so if the charging system itself wasn't up to task. They're good for short bursts (hence the reason they're widely used in HVAC systems) but if the charging system can't provide enough power to keep it fully charged it is absolutely useless. In fact it will draw more current from your charging system to try to maintain it's charge capacity than the amp itself.
Not to mention they're dangerous. Ever seen one short out and explode? These larger capacitors (5+mf) will easily blow a hole through a saddlebag or fairing if it shorts without blowing a fuse first. Now you see why the higher end capacitors are all contained within metal enclosures.
