even back in the "day" when the RF punch 45 was doing crazy power bridged at a 1 ohm load, and the rave was using a capacitor to fix what ails you, it wasn't difficult to explain with visual aids on my test bench how ineffective capacitors really were and even more-so if the charging system itself wasn't up to task. They're good for short bursts (hence the reason they're widely used in HVAC systems) but if the charging system can't provide enough power to keep it fully charged it is absolutely useless. In fact it will draw more current from your charging system to try to maintain it's charge capacity than the amp itself.
Not to mention they're dangerous. Ever seen one short out and explode? These larger capacitors (5+mf) will easily blow a hole through a saddlebag or fairing if it shorts without blowing a fuse first. Now you see why the higher end capacitors are all contained within metal enclosures.
so all i have to do is upgrade charging and ill be good to go. ill go though the specs and make sure i have what i need. thanks again all. im going to X the one 2000w amp and run 2 750w amps (1 in each bag for the 2 6x9's in the lids)

hmmm- I could see a capacitor as a great way to balance out loads on the electrical system.
unless you like your lights dimming with the bass drum
again, talk to the car audio guys, they do this all day every day
The capacitor will help to level out the huge dips in power when the amp hits hard. They do make a difference. I think it may be overkill for a bike system. It's not like you're running a bank of 6 amps pushing huge wattage to 8 - 15" subs 20 - midrange speakers and a bunch of tweeters. Upgrade the charging system. I've seen 80 amp alternators advertised, but I'm not sure how big they go. Look into what cop bikes use. They run a ton more lights and such. In reference to an above comment, I think they are all 3 phase.
I don't think an Electra Glide battery will fit in your stock location. My softail battery wouldn't fit in my Electra. I don't know about the other way around. Good luck, post pics.
