Harley is letting me down
Beary
The dealer will not release the bike until it is fully repaired otherwise I would have done that. The Insurance company also insists on that and all parts must be brand new but thanks for your thoughts Roadie09. The guys have explained quite well at the start as to why HD take so long and I am now happy with that. Nice 15 you have there
Folks, myself included, don't take well to temper tantrums and that is what the OP sounded like. It is especially irritating when the alternative makes very little sense, from the frying pan into the fire with a Victory. You are caught by your INSURANCE COMPANY rules. Try venting to them, they are the ones who have kidnapped your bike. If it weren't for their rules you could be out stacking up the miles right now. If this was an at fault accident caused by the other guy, why don't you have a rental of some kind until your bike is "ransomed" from the insurance company or TELL them you are riding it as is until the fender comes in. Is there only one insurance company there?
My experience is the opposite. When my 12 Road Glide CVO inner fairing cracked just before it went out of warranty, HD had a new one ready is three weeks.
Just recently when my Freewheeler was hit broad side by an old lady running a stop sign the dealer had the new fender in two weeks. I hadn't even got the check from her insurance company yet.
I suspect that the low number of machines in production for those models might be quicker to get but a high production machine may be harder to get a part.
Try to get a new fender from the factory of any metric and see how long it takes before dissing HD.
I'm sure that the shipping time to New Zealand may be a factor.

Well, I've been with the same insurance agent since 1990, and haven't had a claim in over 20yrs with a multi-car policy-5 vehicles. So in my case, I would have called my agent and said "guess what, while I wait for my bike to be repaired, your gonna pay for my brand new rental harley". Then continue to ride with no worries. They'll let me know when the fender comes in. In your case, you should call the idiots' insurance company and demand it. You might mention that you could go see a Dr bout this nagging pain in your neck since the accident, if they want to give you a hard time about a rental.
It's kinda funny. We all want things done so quickly, but the best quality. Here in the states we would have to fight to get insurance companies to put OEM parts back on a vehicle. They have fast turn arounds, but a lot of inferior aftermarket parts. In New Zealand the insurance company won't let the owner cheap out and get aftermarket, no matter how long it takes.
I've been bitching about the orange peel on my 2014 since I bought it last May. They really have dropped the ball on their "premium paint" they always advertise.
OP, another issue with your part is the age of the bike and the fact it's not Vivid Black. They probably have to dust off a few things to get it right.
