Wish the OP would have asked a few questions before he got his panties in a wad. Threatening to throw the brand out the window due to ignorance is no excuse. There were some great relies that calmed him down this time. Thank you all!
It's kinda funny. We all want things done so quickly, but the best quality. Here in the states we would have to fight to get insurance companies to put OEM parts back on a vehicle. They have fast turn arounds, but a lot of inferior aftermarket parts. In New Zealand the insurance company won't let the owner cheap out and get aftermarket, no matter how long it takes.
Some really good responses here, some so stupid not worth replying to. Buelligan makes an interesting point about how our Ins Co insists on top quality etc while some places don't, guess I should be grateful for that.
Just a couple of points to maybe clear up a couple of misconceptions.
1. It was the other driver at fault...another tourist crash
2. You can not demand a replacement bike while waiting for repair, maybe thats why I only have to pay $450.00 a year for a bike insured for $35000.00 NZD
3. Dealer will not release bike until ALL the work is completed and has to be signed off by them and myself to say I am happy with the quality of repair...I don't have a problem with that...least they are looking out for my interests, so I cannot just go through any old fender on and ride away...
4. Yes I was real pissed off at HD but that was before a few of you and I mean just a few gave some real good responses to my rant and clued me up on what and how things happen at HD. I now understand how things work and am happy with that. I appreciate the excellent responses from the good buggers on here that offered good advise.
Just how pissed off I am at their after sales backup.
My 2010 Road king got just a little bit dusted in a slow speed laydown due to an idiot driver.
I insurance all good...Harley you suck...over 8 weeks to get a painted front fender from the factory, wherever that is now....probably bloody Asia somewhere.
That is pathetic....Bet Victory would bust their chops to take care of one of its riders, as they are trying to gain ground wheras Harley seem to think they own it
My neighbor got rear ended on his Indian and it took them over two months to come up with a painted rear fender. but they did give him a loaner bike
funny - except they were backordered because they are selling bikes so fast there aren't "extra" fenders
so fast? not so sure about that.

To put those figures into context, Harley expects expect to ship 279,000 to 284,000 motorcycles worldwide in 2014, up 7 to 9 percent from 2013 shipments.
Last year Victory had 15 different models, this year only 10. Indian has 5 models so there's 15 total. I guess it'll be a sales contest to see which company will survive. My guess is Victorys weren't doing what they thought against Harley so Polaris bought the Indian name and are trying to build a brand.
I like competition, it's makes the market a better place; but spending all that jack to have a 5 model line up that are essentially all pretty expensive for what they are and an aging customer base who want those bikes. I dunno.
All the while, Harley is selling every Sportster they can think of. Metaflake paint, ape hangers, fat front tires and ads with young people wearing converse gym shoes riding them. When's the last time you heard someone say "I want an RC Cola."
I can tell you first hand Victory is slower than HD.
I really hate seeing you were hit but it appears you fared well, that I am glad of.
If you do any work on your bike, adding and fixing etc... we have to brace our selves for a let down because some things just take too long at times.
With anything this big will have some slow time about it.
Here's to you for being okay.
