I am picking up an RG in the next few days either an 04 or an 07 but thats a whole other story ;-))
I dont like the bars on either one off them .. I am used to drag bars ..does any body make a set of bars similar to drag bars .. I mean with the same hand position .. for the RG
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction ...
Purp
Drag bars on a RoadGlide? Not gonna work! Many of us have changed from the stock bar to a WideGlide or a Heritage handlebar......and find them to be more comfortable. I guess you could manage a way to do the drag bar, but you'd need some dang tall risers which would require a somewhat serious modification to the instrument pod area on the bike.
Road Glide = Long distance comfy sofa to lay back and stretch out
Drag bars = Pull you forwards and lay you on the tank for aerodynamics
Road Glide + Drag bars = Does not compute, unless you have 6ft arms
Seriously, I don't even think a set of broomsticks would even work on a RG. The fairing might be in the way and because of the center section of the bars/risers have stuff on them you can't just add longer risers without doing a lot of modding to that area as said above.
You're not alone. I used to ride an FXR with 16" apes + 3" risers and was perfectly comfortable, yet after a half hour on my "touring" bike my right hand is numb. I think it's because my wrist is in a "cocked" position, like I was about to cast with a fishing rod. I'd like to find some bars where the grips are more parallel with the bike.
I am not looking so much at putting drag bars on as finding the similar hand position ...
Just thinking more about what you are saying here. Are you talking about two separate handle bars, one clamped to the right upper fork and the one clamped to the left upper fork?
You mentioned similar hand position. I think you might be referring to some kind of pull back bars. Can you provide a picture of what you are referring too.
Purp,
I know where your comin from, I been trying to find basically the same thing, my frickin long arms make me alittle cramped nothin like a a streetglide though. I have access to a set of heritage bars, just havent had time to do the swap.
