I with ya, but those days are gone. I can remember back in the early 1970's when I moved up from a SL350 Honda to a "big" 750 Triumph Trident and thought it was a monster.
I know - my first street bike was a '79 CB650, brand spankin' new...and my friends thought I was crazy for buying such a 'big bike' for my first street bike!
At the risk of sounding heretical, I've always wanted Harley to eventually integrate the V-Rod engine somewhere else in their line up...maybe a SG and/or RG...maybe with a larger displacement than the V-Rod. It's a proven power train with an excellent track record for reliability...at least that's my understanding.
I am waiting for the Road Glide Ultra non CVO. I am not sure if I would like the wet head or not. I would have to rent one to decide. Guess my RGU will stay with me until the new one comes back.

Its not a good engine for a touring bike. Its a high rpm engine, more suited to a sport bike, which essentially what the v-rod is. You hear this request a lot, but I dont think you'll see it happen.
