You are still riding and that is the important piece. We are all going to face future decisions that our bodies will give us. Lets hope we can do like you and still be able to ride. Just enjoy the wind and keep that smile going. Your knees will thank you for the lighter ride.
You know whats right for you and no one here can fault you for it. As others said, at least you are still riding.
A friend of mine had to give up riding all together about a year ago because of his arthritis, he just could not manipulate the clutch lever anymore. We tried various remedies and changes to the bike but in the end nothing worked for him.
See the picture in my Sig Pic this is when my Bob was the most fun to ride. This is when I knew I needed a Bagger
P.S. when I bought the Bob my wife didn't like riding with me, new wife new bike.
Been real fellas, ankles and knees are spent from years of jumping on and off of Tanks!
Traded "down" to a street bob......
Thanks for all the tips, tricks and advice!
You know every time I've straddled a bagger and lifted it off the stand at the dealer i'm like yikes this thing is heavy just to lift off the stand. I can't imagine pushing it around my garage or backing up any sort of incline. It's hard enough to pull my 600lb 883 up the little ledge in my driveway and i'm a 240lb very strong man.
My co-worker has a road glide and has to have is wife help him every time it needs to be pushed if to back up at all. I have bad knees as well and although i always think i want a bagger i always ask myself do i really want a 800+lb motorcycle. Throw me and the wife on with bags loaded and were talking nearly 1200 lbs.
