Default engine check light

I have replaced my Voltage Regulator and battery on my 2005 Ultra Classic.
Battery is charging at 14.7 volts. Checked Stator producing 28.6 volts at 1,000 RPM and 50 volts at 2,000 rpm. But when I start my bike engine check light comes on then goes off then comes back on again until voltage reaches 13 volts then stays off. Gage needle increases up to 14 volts and stays there and light stays off. Do I have problem or not.

once a C.E.L. comes on, it takes 50 start/stop cycles or a scanner reset or battery disconnect to keep the light from illuminating on start up.

That is assuming the reason the bike coded in the first place has gone away.

Any experience with 2004 Sportster XL1200 C?
Troubleshot my bike, found adequate AC but no
13 or 14 vdc to battery. Highly suspect VR but funds
are limited so I need to be pretty sure before spending
Hundred $$.
Thanx for input
