Kick Stand
You need to check mounting bolt from time to time. Also if you have jiffy stand that swings up to rubber bumper on lower frame tube it can be updated to jiffy stand with rubber bumper mounted to stand
"double tap" I put the stand down and then give it an extra tap. Been riding HD a long time and never had a bike fall or broken stand. I have broke a kicker or two wailing on them, the stand always stood up to the task. make sure you put the stand all way down so it locks, the "double tap" works for me.
That Jiffy stand is stronger than you realize. I witnessed a car back into the rear end of a parked harley bagger once. Did some damage to the bike, pushed it a couple feet, jiffy stand never folded.
You can always tell who the "new to harley riders" are when the jump after parking their scooters.

I can vouch for this, especially in Florida. I've found my jiffy stand sunken into the asphalt over a couple inches. It was a mother pulling it out after the ground cooled in the evening.
It's plenty strong and secure. Even parked on a slope, it confidently holds my weight, as I sit "side saddle" shooting the breeze.
Mild complaint is that the retaining spring can get crunched when ridden over things like speed bumps. This may cause stand not to fully come up when ridden, and maybe scrape in corners. Also if use too much force putting jiffy stand down, may bend the reach tab down so as it's closer to the ground. The changed position can cause the tab to scrape in turns.

Just bought my first Harley, I got a 97 Electra glide classic, and so far I love my bike, but I get very nervous when I park my bike and put it on the kick stand. It feels like its gonna fall, I never felt this with my metrics, am I just being paranoid about dropping my baby or just over reacting, any thoughts
Let's see the dang thing. No picture, no bike. It could all be a made up story.
There should be a little snap in the way the leg of your stand extends and retracts. If not, I recommend changing the spring. There is a good Youtube video on how to replace it without having to wrestle with the springs.
