I replaced my stock filter mount with a chrome plated mount. The filter mounting face is also chromed and the filter spins off by hand. I think the smooth chrome surface of the mount with an oiled filter gasket makes a good seal without having to make it too tight.
I started using the K&N filters with the nut on the end specifically for that issue. When I got my bike, that bitch seemed welded on too!! Big *** Channel Locks helped take it off. Good luck!!
I also really like the K&N CHrome Oil Filters with the nut on the end. Makes the job very easy no matter how much you tighten upon installation!
I do lube the seal , and that is the filter cup that stripped the 3/8 hole out of the middle
Have someone weld or braze a 1/2" nut onto that tool for you. Then you can use a 1/2" drive ratchet with a short extension and a 3/4" socket. The stamped sheet metal stuff is just Chinese junk.
