ok ,i am finally getting to first start up on 107 build,2014 streetglide, how long before oil light comes off, i have plugs out ,getting alot of air and gas smell out of plug holes is that normal, thanks,
After a new build, including oil pump and lifters:
I have good luck rolling the rear tire by hand 4 or 5 complete revolutions (spark plugs are out) to make sure nothing is hitting or making noise. Next I hit the starter and turn it over for about 5 seconds. Now I let it set for a couple of minutes and then hit the starter again for 5 seconds. I do this 4 times to build up oil pressure and fill up any empty galleys etc. Lastly I put the plugs in and hit the starter. It starts up instantly with full oil pressure.
There is always a bit of apprehension after a new build when you hit the starter the first time to light it off. I would give it a "pucker factor" of at least 8.

You won't be able to drive a straight pin up your butt with an 8 lb. hammer for the first 5 seconds or so, but if you followed directions and did everything correctly, she'll quiet down and you will get the biggest grin on your face because you did it yourself. Good luck!
I was there when my indy finished my 106 stroker and fired that bad boy up...smiles all around, and I was covered in goosebumps. What a grand experience ! I video'd it, too. Do the same if you can.
