Hey guys, tomorrow I'm going to look at an 08 RK Classic. Owner says he is the 2nd owner. His boss was the 1st. Current owner says he has owned it since September and is moving so he needs to sell.
He doesn't seem to know anything very specific about he bike. That concerns me. He didn't know what exhaust it has, says it has "an engine upgrade", but he didn't know what. I can see from the pics it has a heavy breather. Maybe just a fuel pack. idk. He says it has all the paperwork. It has 13k miles total. What's a fair offer here? He's asking $11,900. Sorry for the long read.
If you like it buy it. Not many used bikes are you going to know all the history of it. I would try to get it for less but 13K on an 08 is not many miles and just a few oil changes from being new.
look thru the paperwork you may be able to answer all your quesions, you said he bought it from his boss see if you can talk to him. On the other hand a lot of people have bought used with no info at all and that is a low mileage bike if it were me i would go for it. The fact that the current owner doesn't know a lot means he probally did not screw anything up by this I mean he didn't work on it I think you should look at the paperwork he has and DO IT
Keep in mind that the upgrades, etc, add NOTHING to the price you're gonna pay! The price does seem fair, but I'd start out somewhere around eleven...maybe a bit less...and go from there. I agree that most riders have NO idea what their bike has in it, if it runs and rides ok, I wouldn't get uphunged about it. It is a low mileage bike, but fortunately, not TOO low mileage a bike, if ya know what I mean! Good luck and circle back when you're done the deal or walked away...
Each purchase can be different when buying used ... but you referenced the owner basically doesn't know *****, so ask if you can email or call his boss, and do so if you have questions after glancin through the paperwork.
