Been a while since I've been here... Made it through some pretty tough times and I have been blessed with the ability to reconnect with my riding passion. So it goes! I want to do a stage 1 and I'd like to focus on a tuner with auto tune. My last bike had a tmax and I loved it. I haven't really needed to research things so I'd love some feed back! Thanks in advance!
After going through add-on "tuners", canned and custom maps, "auto" tune, and proper dyno tuning, there is just no substitute for a proper dyno tune. Find the best dyno guy in your area and get the flash tuner he recommends. Anything less is, just less.
I had so many tunes on my 06... And finally went with the Tmax. I had a guy who was well known for builds and tunes and worked as an R/D guy for the motor company. It wasn't the tune it was the weather... That's why I'm asking. I have to disagree with a good tune based on changing weather conditions... I had tunes done in spring summer and fall.. I have to admit the new bike runs remarkably well for out of the box... Better than any of my previous bikes. I am reluctant going down the tune road... But I want a decent throaty exhaust.. PIA!! Thanks for the advice so far!
I have used several tuners. I preferred a auto tuning and they always did good. I got a 2012 CVO 110 it had a spot at times that would cause the engine kick through the breather. The pcv with auto tune would not tune it out. The bike ran great other than that at times. I. Had it Dyno tuned just to see if he could get it.
I was very surprised it got it out, the power and the throttle was greatly improved. It got the temps down to what I call normal.
So now I am a believer in Dyno tune.
From where you live is 3 hours to Fuel Moto in Little Chute Wisconsin. Buy one of their power packages with the AC/exhaust/mufflers and a Powervision, and get it Dyno tuned by Jaime.
Good prices, excellent reputation ongoing service and future support for more changes down the road.
When I was there a big van drives in with Chicago HD all painted all over it and drops off 2 sweet bikes. So I ask the guy driving if Chicago HD subs their build work out to FM. ...guy says "No, these are my personal bikes."

I was going to call them next week... I have some time. I wasn't even going to buy a bike- sold mine due to no time. Funny how things change in a moment! I'll take a ride up there while breaking her in! I do appreciate the info. The guy I'm talking about is Jim from what used to be Illinois HD. My first HD was from CHD and their service sucked! I am grateful to be able to wrench but want a turn key just to ride. The 06 was a constant chase.. I had the wrong combo from day one and want to make sure I get it right this time.
WE ALL SAY "just a stage one"
With the 06 the bike wasn't 4 months old and it got jugs heads exhaust and cams... Finally ended up with 34's from HQ and they helped!!
As I said this "S" roadie surprised the crap out of me!
