Default 06' Classic rear wheel removal

OK guys,
I know I should have a service manual already but........
I need to get the rear wheel off to fix a flat. (first time for everything) Looks pretty straight forward but donn't want to F something up.
Mufflers off.
Do I need to remove the left shock? Belt guard? Do I need to be ready to hang the caliper from something? Any suprises?
Apreciate any help or tips you guya might have.

Theres alot more stuff to deal with than the former favorite bike.

On the rear the caliper will be okay. No need to remove the shock. No need to remove the belt guard.

You need a torque wrench that goes to at least 105 Ft.Lbs. and you need a belt tension gauge. You will need a 36 MM socket for the axle nut, and a 36mm wrench to hold the axle when you go back together.

The wheel is self aligning with the cams on the axle so you shouldn't have an alignment issue.

Good Luck.

Bill

May I suggest you mark your swingarm and cam on the rear as followsthanks Dalton for the tip)

This is a pic of mine when I put my new wheels on. This will place the same amount of tension back on the belt as before.

Also, if you have problems stabbing the rear rotor back into the caliper when going back ON with the wheel, take the inside brake pad out byloosening the 2 little1/4inch 12-point bolts that run thru the caliper. This will allow the wheel to just slide right in without having to shoehornit in which makes for a SERIOUS PITA andlessens or alleviates(if your careful like I was) scratches on the wheel from the caliper rubbing against the wheel during installation.
