If I start my 2014 RK in gear, clutch in, the bike will jump forward. At a stop sign if left in first it wants to move forward. When put into gear it always clanks. Is this just a simple clutch adj or something more. Don't feel safe riding it.
Cable and or clutch adjustment should take care of that issue. Is there some play in the lever before you feel resistance when pulling back? There should be around a 1/16th to an 1/8" space on the lever if I recall correctly.
1) If u start your bike with a cold engine, first start of the day, the starter will want to move the bike aggressively forward if you're in 1st gear when starting. That's normal. If u start your cold bike in neutral and then shift into 1st it's gonna CLANK. That's normal.
Even though the CHANK from the first shift of the day into 1st gear is normal, I don't like it. So I eliminate it completely by putting mine into 1st, pull in the clutch, and while sitting in the seat I push the bike back a foot or two. At first it's really hard (breaking the oil tension) to push back but after a few inches it eases up. THEN I start the bike in 1st gear and the starter motor still moves the bike forward a little bit but not much. No CLANK. Yes, it is a little more wear, perhaps, on the starter motor but I just hate that CLANK.
2) You do need to adjust your clutch since your warmed-up bike wants to creep forward. Not hard, follow the manual.
