Guys, I recently bought a used HD tour pack; pics below. This is my first TP and I'm not familiar with the wiring. The TP has LED lights on the sides and a power cord for them coming out of the front lower left corner. If possible I'd like to make them work but I see no connection plug on the bike. Does my RK have the wrong wiring harness, or is there a power-plug somewhere?
You may have wiring under the left side cover or under your seat..I don;t know which year bike you have.
Harley uses the following for rear lighting:
Black for ground
Blue for the running light
red/yel for brake light
violet and brown are turn signals
my tourpak has some custom wiring
running lights, brake light and interior power point for charging my phone, camera etc.
I used a flat 4 type trailer plug.
I spliced into the wiring on my 09 FLHTC under the seat, ran the trailer plug wiring down to behind the left side cover...along the fender strut and then when not used it is secured to the shock.

I've got a similar project going on. I have a 15 RGS. I purchased a TP new style, harness, and lights I need a template for the large wrap around light. Also trying to find directions for drilling the TP hole for the wiring harness. I've got the parts in hand Just don't want to drill any holes wrong on this very expensive piece.
You should have a 4 wire connector in front of the battery could be buried - its gray with a black plug and called a deutsche connector. Also you may find a gray connector with a heavy red wire - hot to the Battery.

Mike, Jerry, thanks! I'll look for that plug. There' a lot under the seat right now with the tuner, an equalizer for the LED lights, etc. Hopefully it's there and I might need some sort of extension cable for it because that power wire coming out of the tour pack is pretty short.
What I did was to splice a new set of wires in the tour-pak and them ran them under the seat. I also added a splitter to the connector I was talking about - it made it a 'Y' plug - used it to power my Zep seat and tour-pak lights.
You will have to route around sometimes the plug/connector is buried from eye sight.

I connected a USB power port to that and powers my GPS and charges my electronics on the handlebars. The accessory switch turns it on/off if it's the same plug.

Jerry, did you get the splitter at the HD dealer? I think I may need one. Way back I think I did use a plug under the seat to power something; it may be the same one you're talking about. Thanks!

OK, I found the power connector Jerry mentioned but it does not match up with the connector coming out of the TP. Also I did find 2 deadheaded connectors under the left side cover stored just below the fuse box; service manual says one is for ABS, but no indication what the other one is for, but this doesn't match up to the TP connector either.
Also, the TP only has side marker lights; no run/turn/brake lights. The wiring for the marker lights only has 2 wires, but then it connects to the fitting in the picture above and that has 3 wires; guessing the 3rd wire is used in another application but dead for this one. So I just need power and ground.
The TP was made in 2012 per the quality control stickers inside it, and the bike is a 2012, so I assume a connection is possible unless the TP was made in 2012 for an older model.
