Default Why does...

my bike cut off when taking an exit ramp or shutting down the throttle when coming to a quick stop.

We were on a spirited ride this weekend...on the hwy doing pretty good mph's 85-100. Every time we went to take an exit ramp I'd pull the clutch let off the throttle and the engine shuts off like I hit the kill switch. The first time it happened I thought I hit the switch instead of the blinker, but when it happened a second time I knew it wasn't me. I let the clutch back out and it fires back up.

Let me tell you what I think it is and you tell me if I'm right or wrong.
This was my first real ride since I added the RH TD, Big Sucker, and PCIII. I think that the map added may have dropped my idle RPM's to low and when I chop the throttle like that the RPM's drop all the way down and the motor cuts out. I had a similar problem on oneof my crotch rockets andI turned the idle up and it seemed to solve the problem.

Am I right...oh and I am also running the RH TD advanced mapfrom Dynojet.

Thanks for the help,
Moe

I'll toss an idea out there too. Do you have any custom LED lighting on the bike, in particular, the brake light? Power Commander's website specifically states there could be interference issues with those types of lights. Maybe when you hold the brake in for extended periods of time, you're activating an LED taillight, which cuts out your Power Commander, and could kill the engine.

Fix is to rewire the power wire on the PC. I don't know the specifics, but its on their website.

Good Luck.

Hey sknyfats how about a link to this information. There has been talk about rewireing the PC for other reasons but noone has ever came up with a solution

Sure thing, one link, coming right up! By the way - I'm new here - and figure I'll be a semi regular contributor& frequent reader of the posts around here. I just picked up my first HD - a RK - about 3 1/2 weeks ago and already put 1,000 miles on it. Many of them in some VERY COLD Cleveland weather! But, enough about that. I'll toss up a pic in the pic thread & say a little more later...now onto that link:

http://www.powercommander.com/powerc...nder_faqs.aspx

Found it under Support ---> F.A.Q.s ----> Bike Model Specific Issues

(I like often read "outsie the box" when troubleshooting things for myself - even though a particular problem/solution might not be geared SPECIFICALLY toward my particular make/model/etc; I'm a computer geek & its how I get by a lot)

The verbage, exactly is:

The bike randomly cuts out or sputters while riding.

Solution: If custom LED tail lights are being used, they may give off interference up the line that causes the Power Commander to loose its 12 volt reference for power and shut off. The power wire (Red wire with bullet connector terminals) will need to be relocated to a keyed, solid 12 volt power source.

Does it apply in this situation? I dunno - but a PC WAS just installed, AND the symptomsmatch - so worth checking into, right?

Default RE: Why does...

This has got to be refering to another make of bike because the PC for the harley doesnt have a red wire with a bullet connector it all piggy backs to the ECM. Is it possible to re-wire?.....Probably....but no one has wanted to try. Starting in 06 the the PC pics up its power source from the fuel pump circuit. And what happens if you wait until your FI is compleatly primed the fuel pump stops and waits for start up, it causes a slight lag in the fireing up of the bike.
