Default HD garage door opener problem

I just installed my HD garage door opener kit in my 2014 Ultra on Thursday. Everything went well and it has been working fine since then. Well, yesterday we lost power and when I went in the garage, I noticed the led on the hd receiver was blinking rapidly instead of being on solid. I turned on the bike and hit the high beam switch and sure enough, nothing happened. I unplugged the received for 10 minutes to see if it would reset but when I plugged it back in, nothing happens at all. The led will not light at all. I removed the receiver from the wall outlet and I sniffed it and it smells like burnt electronics. Has anyone ever had a problem like this? If I get a need one, do I need to plug it in to a surge suppressor? Do you think the dealer will swap the receiver alone or will I need to remove the transmitter as well?

That's a bummer. My guess is it took a hit. Any and all electronic devices need a surge protector. As an electrician I suggest to people they buy surge strips for their tv, computer, home audio systems, anything that has electronics in it. I hope they warranty it for you, however electronic/electrical parts often have no warranty. Good luck!

It took a surge when the power came back on for sure. I would let Harley know if its not that old they might warranty it. I have flash to pass module myself and that does not use external power just powered off the garage door opener. Never had a problem with it so far.

It's only two days old. Are these units unreliable or did I just get a bad one? Nothing else was affected by the power outage other than a few clocks flashing.

The unit probably got hit with a large surge when the power came back on...those units don't have much built-in surge protection...best to add an external surge protector...

Mine is even simpler, particularly now that I have the magnetic catch doors.

But, sorry I know this is not an option for those of you with radiators in the lowers.

Are you sure it took a hit? The flashing light could mean it forgot it's code... might be worth a shot to reprogram it.

I installed one of these just today. I swear, NOBODY is better than HD at writing instructions that make the exceedingly simple sound impossible.
