HD garage door opener problem

After reading about your mishap. Got me thinking about putting my garage door opener and the HD opener on a surge protector. My HD opener has been on the bike for a month or two now and working fine. I like just hitting the high beams and driving away. Nothing's easier. Hopefully there is some kind of warranty.

I have had mine for about 7 years now. At least four times since it was installed, it quit working right after a power outage. Every time except once, I reprogrammed and it started working immediately.
One time I didn't have any success after trying several times. I did without it for a month or so and then decided to try one more time before coming up with a replacement. For reasons still unknown to me, it worked on my last attempt and has been working for a year or so since.
