Ok, I'm looking to change seats on my Roadglide. Currently running a Mustang vintage super solo and matching pillion. Although I like the seat and feel it is comfortable, I need something with a back rest. This past Sept. I rode to Pidgeon Forge, Tn. and back with some friends. Took 2 days going out and came back in 1. Once I get to the 600-800 mile a day range my butt is hurting. Part of that may be the firmness of the seat or it may just be because its 600-800 mile days. Planning on riding to Sturgis and back this summer so I'm wanting to get a comfortable seat with a backrest before I go. I'm considering the Mustang super touring one piece seat with back rest, but I'm also looking at Saddlemen seats. Looking at their Roadsofa w/backrest or the Explorer G-tech w/backrest. Anyone with experience with any of these seats that has put that kind of miles in in a day at a time let me know your opinions. Thanks
I had a Saddlemen back in the day that I loved, but it was leather, and they don't make leather seats any longer.
My new favorite is Corbin. I have had a Corbin on this bike for well over a year, and decided I wanted a new Corbin, designed for the Rushmore, for the OL's comfort. I ordered a Dual Tour and tour pack backrest on Friday, had it on the bike Thursday.
Bought a like new backrest from a member here, and it has a lot of adjustment to it.
I highly recommend leather seating surfaces, way more comfortable over the long haul...
I liked the Mustang touring wide solo with backrest so much on my Road King I bought one for my Road Glide. Buy one with a backrest and sell yours would be my suggestion.
H-D Sundowner works for a lot of people, try some demo seats at your local Dealer first.
Lots of aftermarket seats out there too. Every ones butt is different try as many seats as
you can.
That said, theres more to comfort on long rides than just the seat...
Adjustable back rest is a must
Highway pegs for stretching the legs
Good air circulation between your butt and the seat (I use the HD Circulator Large Seat Pad-51076-10)
And also very important is the right underwear. I use the LDComfort riding shorts. Kinda pricy but worth every penny.
I also have a stock SG seat I use when I don't have the tour pack on. I don't think I would ever use that seat for anything over a few hours though.
