Any idea why HogPro says commander but the majority likes the Metz? Any one have had both and liked one over the other?

I got my rims and tires from HogPro and he was pushing the Metzlers. Probably the hot item at that time. After seeing his post about them, I checked out the commander II online. Nice looking tire, and I may try them next time.

I've had both. Both are good tires but the Commanders were a more comfortable ride and last longer.

Had the stock dunlops on mine when I bought it used. Got a set of Commanders a few months later and couldn't believe the difference. So when I went with the 21 a got a commander for it. Rides great. That would be my recommendation. Most of the guys I ride with have switched over also. I did have to pay a little extra but American Classic Motors did me right on the price for the wheel, tire, and brake rotors. Always been happy with those guys.

At Leesburg a few years back, we were getting on the bikes and I noticed the 21 Metz on my Bud's SG was delaminating, a section about 6-8 inches (he said that it had <2k), I went and got his truck and we loaded it up. He told me a week later that Metz would not do anything for him, nothing at all...

I recently switched to a 17/21 combo, selling my 18/19 Agitators to a buddy. I liked the stock 18" rear Dunlop that only HD dealers sold.

A friend of mine has the same combo, 17/21, and he chose Metzlers for his first go-round. 5000 miles into it, he had to put on a new back tire. No way I'm changing my rear tire every time I change my oil. Nope.

So, I chose to go with an American Elite rear (200/55/17) and an Elite III (120/70/19). I researched this combo and found that it's used more often than people speak of. The American Elite is a dual compound tire, so if I see 10k out the rear, I'll be happy with that. At half the price of the HD tires for the 18" Agitator, 10k miles would be just fine. Of course, more is better! Jury is still out on that.

I have around 9000 miles on my Metzler 21" front tire, it still looks good, I don't know what brand I will try when I need a new one.
