I mounted a 150/80 16 Shinko 777 rear tire. Looks like its rubbing on the belt guard. I heard their is a mod to fix this but I cant find it. Am heading out to laughlin on Friday. Would it be ok if I just removed the belt guard?
I trimmed mine as follows, remove the guard cut the metal tab behind the second rivet from the front. Remove the back rivet, metal piece and trim the rubber. Install.
It uses a 130 rear tire. Just went through this on a 03 RK.
You can get spacers that go between the belt pulley and wheel. 3/16 should do it. 1/4 is too much, pulley will rub the swing arm. 1/8 may be enough.
But trimming the belt guard Mary not help. Ify it does great. Much easier.

As I understand it the 2005 RK uses a 1 1/8 belt. Its also a different pulley. It doesn't hit the belt it just runs the guard by a **** hair.
