I would have your mechanic take a good look at the dog teeth on the 3rd counter gear and make sure the corners of the teeth are not rounded. It sounds like it is hopping in and out of gear.

Not a Mechanic myself, but just thinking if this was the case the jerking effect would be synced to a certain extent to the worn teeth. I will for sure have him take a look at it though.
Just a thought. I ran a fuel pack for awhile, and it worked great. Then it didn't work great. Disconnected it and all was well. cleaned connectors, added the electrical grease, and all was well again, until it wasn't. Did what you are describing, low or higher rpm.Like I said, just a thought. BTW, the fuel pack went in the garbage.

Will try to do these too tomorrow with the Mechanic. At one point, bike was revving high, but that was mainly an air leak that was sorted out.
