will stage 1 upgrade make a noticeable difference ?
hi there, I am not liking the gearing on my 2015 Heritage Softail especially 1st gear, I know the stage 1 (with cleaner and full exhaust replacement and tuner) wont affect the gearing at all, but I am wondering if the engine will rev more freely in first gear and have more low revs torque in second gear so I can corner at low speed without having to change into first gear, which currently I find annoying for low speed cornering. I ride 2 up all the time so I just like to chug around when riding the neighbourhood. Any real world advice will be appreciated, because I am considering trading the bike on one of the Rushmore Project bikes that has taller gearing, david and dianne, Victoria Australia
The new A/C and pipes will be money wasted unless you give your engine the fuel it needs. Some of the guys here with newer bikes can tell you what works.
Might try just a tuner and maybe some dyno time, the big 103 is so lean from the factory it amazing it runs below 2500 at all. Just a Dynojet PV with the improved stock map makes a big difference in low rpm smoothness and rideability.

what?!?!?!?! ok im gonna try and ask/ say this without being a male appendage here. Did you just start riding or have you only rode jap bikes before you got this bike? listen if you have only rode jap bikes before this Harley let me tell you a few things. Harleys are torque heavy from the factory compaired to a jap bike. this means they will rev lower but put out more power. a jap bike is going to rev higher but in the end your not gonna get the pull you will from the Harley. its like comparing a Shelby cobra to a mitsubitchy eclipse. Harleys are not made to rev high.
Unless you put a tuner in it. but even then its only gonna rev at the highest 7k with the limiter turned off which in most cases you will blow your engine. so like ryan said you might as well get a different bike. because what you are wanting is not gonna happen.
my bike is camed and I have run 6k in first and second and the bike hates it. I personally have no idea why you corner in 1st gear or want to for that matter. your bike should pretty much be able to go 10 to 15 mph with the throttle just cracked in 1st gear. I guess the question you are asking make no scence to me. it just really sounds like you have either only rode jap bikes or never rode before at all. either way id just learn to ride the bike as it is. because its not the bike. and nothing you can do is gonna get you what you got in your mind except a jap bike.
I am not talking about high revs, read my post again

ok apologize I misread the the second line. anyway to answer your question no. you are gonna have to put a cam in the bike to get what you want out of it. if you put a screaming eagle 295 or say an Andrews 57h ( which I would recommend since they make the cams for Harley) your power band is gonna stay right around 2k to 3k. but you are gonna want to put a tuner on it and a heavy breather of some kind and pipes. you can try it with just a stage 1 it will give in more torque and horse power but I honestly think in the end you will want the cam and a dyno done.
