I have sent shocks and mono-tubes back and they have never charged me always have had great customer service, don't know if their policy has changed. For what you pay for these I'm sure replacement is factored into the price just like automotive shocks however auto shocks are a fraction of what bike shocks cost.
That may be true, and I had a set of 440s that had a seal leaking and sent it in and they replaced it. The guy that bought them from me was happy. But this reminds me of the time I had a Ford F150, had it for 15 years put on 157k miles, the last 20k was in the hands of a teenage driver. Thought I didn't put much money out of pocket in it over the years but it had the 5 year extended warranty and looking back it was in the shop no less than 3 dozen times for one thing or another. So I look at this as get something so so and get free seal rebuilds if they go out, or get the Ohlins and enjoy the ride. Not going to say what I paid out of respect for the seller, but I would have spent more on the 970. Just sayn.

So, are you saying you paid less for remote reservoir Ohlins or you're sure your standard Ohlins are better than these? I thought the Ohlins (HD357) were in the $1500 range.
I want to be clear , I am not bad mouthing any shock . I have used Progressive , Ricor , JRi and Ohlins , but I never got a free rebuild with Progressive just because they needed to be serviced , their warranty specifically states normal wear and tear is not covered. Rebuilds do to a defective part breaking would be covered , this is a big difference. No manufacturer is going to or should be expected to rebuild wear parts for free , this is normal maintenance.
I spoke with Progressive in Sturgis this summer about warranties on the 970 they told me everything is covered just send them in. They were quoted saying you spent all that money on theses shocks if they get tired send them back we will take care of it free of charge.
