Default Idle speed

I had my bike in the shop for its 3rd recall and while it was there the mechanic said my bike was idling a bit high, he said he could bring it down to where its supposed to be from factory and he did, which is fine.
Now a few weeks later I installed my Dresser Duals along with the Fualpak 3 and the map recommended for my pipes and the idle seems to be idling on the high side again, like say around 1300rpm.
When driving down the block it seems high but when you take off from a stop in drops and then as you get moving it goes back up. Im not on the throttle if that's what your thinking. I get up to speed and back off the throttle is what im saying.

What is the bike supposed to idle at? I cant seem to find anything in the owners manual. I am thinking about purchasing a service manual in the near future.

Thanks for the help

Your idle speed should be set at 1000 once it is warmed up to operating temps. Check your FP3 tune and see where the idle is set.

Anywhere from 1100 -1300 until the engine gets good and warmed up then it should drop down to about 900 or so and stay there. This may take a little while. 3-5 minutes.

** early TBW bikes can have a sensor confusion problem ( you don't post your year so this may or may not apply)

to reset the sensor/ECM:

with switch in run position...and with RIGHT hand turn on the ignition...let the pump prime. switch off.

repeat 4 times

mostly 08 and 09 it seems.

to prevent future confusion, do not use the kill switch to stop the motor- only use the ignition switch with the RIGHT hand ( this prevents spurious throttle sensor input by the hand moving on the grip

Sorry the bike is a 2014 SGS, the mechanic told me the same thing about shutting it off and I have been. I did notice the bike did idle down around 900 rpm after it warmed up today but seemed to longer then normal

900 is too low for these engines. I don't know the FP. Can you check the idle table and tell us what it is set for?

There should be a list of engine temps and a speed for each one.

When my '14 RK was stock, it would idle up around 1200-1300 rpms when cold, but would drop down into the 900-1000 range once warmed up with a nice lope (the 103 HO and it's new cam they came out with). But since getting the stage 1 and dyno tune, it idles a tad bit higher. High 12's - high 13's range still when cold, but rarely dips below 1000 when warm. I write it off as part of the tune. Doesn't really bother me much since it runs so good.

I would think your engines oil pressure would be better at say 1000 to 1100 rpm vs 900.

After taking it for about a 50 mile ride this morning, after it warmed up the bike is Idling around 1000 rpm now.
I really haven't taken the bike for long bursts since putting the tuner on along with the headers with work and it raining the past week.
The most I was able to do was take it for maybe a 5 mile ride at the time.

She runs great now that it has a tune on it.
Glad I did it and would do it all over again...
