Default Steaming Mad!!!!!

Ordered mynew Road King Classic on April the 12th. The dealer did not have the color we wanted (Black Cherry Pearl/Pewter Pearl) so they done a dealer swap. It was supposed to take just a few days and here. It is 2 weeks later and We still have no Bike. There telling me they have no way to track this bike as it is on a Rail Car. Is this true or are they just feeding me full of BULL CRAP? As anyone else had a problem like this??

I think we got a really good price $18620 out the door with
security and I've called the dealers in a 4 state area and can not find the color we want and if I did they would be $1400 more.

I guess we will give them a few more days and see what happens.

Sorry this is so long I just had to vent a little.

I find it hard to believe on a swap they don't know where the bike is. That would mean the dealer that actually owns this bikehas no idea where it is? Find that hard to believe. Sounds like the dealer might just be stalling till they find one. Did they give you the VIN of the bike when you made the deal? Make sure the bike you get has that VIN.

This post brings back bad memories..
Had a similar thing happen to me as well. Made a deal on an 07 FLHRC in Vivid Black (MSRP, which is a good deal here in CA).
Dealer told me it was being shipped from PA and would be here in ~a week.
They even provided me a VIN and I put $1k down.
Started pestering them after 10 days and they "clammed-up" on me--wouldn't return calls, e-mails, etc.
Dealer was about 80 miles from my house but on the way to a place I do business.
Stopped in after 2 weeks and they told me it was accidentally sold at their other store.
Kinda got the feeling I was their last resort for a sale. They probably lined up someone willing to pay more than me.
Got my deposit back and kept on stepping.

Got on the phone and was lucky that a local dealer just had someone back out and would sell to me at MSRP.
It all worked out. Still kinda pissed at those unethical bastards though.

I really hope everything works out for you. Sucks getting the runaround.

I could be wrong but I thought most bikes were delivered to the dealers via truck. Either way, how long would it take a bike to make it to a destination on a train, a day or three? I think your dealer is stalling.

Sure they didnt say a model swap? This is where they substitute a model they have coming for another or of a different color. I did this and it took a few weeks longer than expected, I say since youre saving 1400.00, cant hurt to wait a little longer. Plenty of great riding weather coming up and isn't getting what you want worth the wait?

We're going to give them a little while longer. Just mad because 2 weeks ago We could have drove 4 hrs and picked one up the same day for the same price. But we were trying to be good and support our local dealer and see whatit has got us. We're just really wanting it as it will be our first Harley and the weather is supposed to be great here in Oklahoma this weekend.

Thanks for all of your comments and support.

Ask him what dealer it is coming from and call that dealer and ask if they have any tracking info....sounds like b/s to me.

What jeepster said -- get the number and call the other dealer to see what's going on. If there's nothing to hide, then it should be a simple check.

It's possible they're doing the same thing that car dealers do:

Sell you whatever you want, then waste your time -figuring after a couple of weeks you'll 'settle' for whatever they have in stock they're trying to get rid of. Happens so frequently there's a term for it - bait and switch.

Expect a phone call soon that the bike you want is still not in/was sold to someone else by mistake/has some sort of problem, but they have a nice all black model in stock if you want it.

Do you really think a dealer doesn't know where every single penny of his inventory is?
