There are companies out the that do use the same shock, some have some minor differences, just as brand to brand will do. Arrnott comes to mind & charges 800.00 more for the kit. Cost for the DIY is 200.00+-50.00 depending on how you do your dump valve & air compressor. People have been doing this for years, this is not a new find. As for failing due to the eyelet breaking off, prove that was even on the bike when it broke, or not used on something else before it broke. Prove that it wasn't tampered with or a setup to have people stop doing it because someone doesn't think it is right. Good luck

Thanks for the explanation.

Keep one very important thing in mind. The side load in a auto chassis is minimal which any movement is absorbed by the rubber bushing and kept in a position by suspension parts, like theyre designed to do, and if they break you can still get from point A to point B. Putting them on a bike now they are the major connection link to the rear of the bike, when they break its good night.
Some things are made to be modified, some are not. I don't think this is one of them. But to each their own.

With all of the shocks on the market that are specifically designed for a Harley touring bike, what is the point of installing a car shocks design for a 2 ton vehicle?

One reason is to look cool by "slammin" the bike to the ground when parked.

Another is I hear the bike rides really nice and with a small compressor, some switched and a dump valve they are on the fly adjustable.

Also there are a few small mods to make regarding the shock eyes and bushings?? Plus as stated welding or beefing the existing welds up some.

Yup me too. In addition many don't space them properly so the nut and washers are tight up against the shock mounts. This doesn't allow for any pivot, so they bind and break.

I've seen it many times on line, they go on forums like this and say what a shi*y system it is, and they can't believe they installed those crappy cheap shocks... etc.. etc.
